Spinal Injured Persons Association (SIPA) is a Tamilnadu based registered self-help group working towards the upliftment of persons with spinal cord injury.
A spinal cord injury is devastating and leaves a person paralyzed for the rest of his/her life. This leads to reduced motor function (inability to walk), lack of bladder and bowel control, loss of touch & pain sense, pressure sores and much more. Depending on the place of injury (upper neck to lower hip), the severity of paralysis varies.
A spinal cord injury is irreversible and there is no treatment available till date.
At SIPA, we strive to create a peer network that has access to information regarding self care, medical advice, financial independence, sport and much more.
SIPA’s vision is to connect all the persons with spinal cord injury in Tamilnadu and be the collective voice and represent it’s members adequately at the time if policy making and implementation.
